Run for Change
Last month I announced that I will be racing this year’s Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on the 23rd September . It will be my 5thMarathon and I want to achieve my best performance yet over the distance. I want to not only dedicate my run to a great cause but also want to raise some valuable funds for Endurocad, combining both my passions – Running and helping others. I am very grateful for the support I have received from Endurocad and believe that the opportunity I was given in 2014 to attend my first camp has transformed me as an athlete and has elevated my career. Endurocad has given me the opportunity to strive for excellence, to empower myself with skills and knowledge, to be a better athlete and also to give back to the next generation. Unfortunately I only had this opportunity to join at age 28, and believe I would have achieved much more had I been exposed to this academy sooner. Coming from a background where it was tough to get support, I really support the vision of Endurocad and commend their efforts to assist in the development of young upcoming athletes. My wish is for many more athletes to be exposed to these camps so that they can realize the wonderful benefits of Sport. As Mandela said: “Sport has the power to change the world”
Why Endurocad
As the current Endurocad athletes manager, I witness firsthand the struggles and challenges that athletes face and on the one hand, it saddens me to see how many of them pursue their athletic goals without even having basic necessities like proper nutrition. On the other hand it really is inspiring to see how they can still achieve their goals despite hardships. I see how happy and grateful they are to trade their torn shoes for a new pair of trainers. Through constant motivation and encouragement, we are able to inspire and uplift those who sometimes become hopeless.through my involvement I have come to realise what a big impact Endurocad plays in the lives of athletes, it really changes the quality of young people’s lives and provide them with opportunities and skills to grow, develop and succeed.
Enduro-Hero Campaign
To show my support for the campaign I will be wearing a super-hero tattoo on race day. Join me and be a super-hero for change. All monies raised will go towards giving more athletes (especially our girls) the opportunities to attend Skills and Assessments Camps; skills workshops for all Endurocad athletes, financial support for basic needs which includes transport, accommodation, studies ect.
